Algeria confirms its support for Syria's return to its natural position in the Arab world.

At the conclusion of the 38th Arab Parliamentary Union conference in the Algerian capital, Ibrahim Bougali, President of the Algerian National People's Assembly and President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, emphasized "the pivotal role of Syria in its Arab surroundings," expressing full support for efforts to restore its natural position within the Union.
The Algerian news agency (APS) quoted Bougali as saying in a press statement: "Just as our country has been keen on Syria's return to the Arab League, the Arab Parliamentary Union _under Algeria's presidency_ is also keen on keeping its permanent headquarters in Damascus, believing in Syria's pivotal role and reaffirming its support until it regains its strength and returns to its natural position within the Union."
Bougali also called on Arab parliaments to "do their utmost to protect the interests of the nation" amid current regional and international challenges.
It is worth mentioning that the conference, which started last Saturday under the slogan "The Role of the Arab Parliamentary Union in the Face of Regional and International Changes," discussed several common Arab issues, with a special focus on enhancing solidarity among member states.
