Al-Shaibani meets the Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York to discuss lifting sanctions on Syria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian caretaker government, Asaad al-Shibani, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on Monday, April 28, during an official visit to the UN headquarters in New York.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry's Facebook page reported that Guterres affirmed during the meeting his "full support for lifting the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people," referring to international efforts aimed at easing the economic burdens on citizens.

The Syrian minister arrived at the UN headquarters in New York on April 25, where he participated in the raising of the Syrian flag in front of the headquarters, and attended a briefing session of the UN Security Council on recent developments in Syria.
