Mahra province police in Yemen managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle a shipment of suspicious devices suspected to be used for military purposes to the Houthi group, in an incident that raises new security concerns in the region.
The Security Media Center of the Yemeni Interior Ministry announced yesterday, Tuesday, the seizure of the devices, metal bars, and connecting wires inside a travel agency office in the Shahn directorate of Mahra province.
The police confirmed that the shipment was seized during a precise security operation, revealing that the devices were en route to the Houthis.
The statement revealed that the shipment belonged to a person named "A. M. A", 38 years old, the devices were confiscated in full, while investigations are ongoing to refer the suspects along with the seized items to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary legal actions.
This operation comes amid escalating tensions in Yemen, with the Houthi group continuing its military efforts, reflecting the danger of attempts to smuggle sensitive equipment into conflict areas.
