Al-Hijri Appeals to the International Community to Establish a Separate Region in Southern Syria

Hekmat Al-Hijri, one of the Druze community leaders in the Sweida governorate, has called on countries and international organizations to provide support for the establishment of a separate region in southern Syria.
Al-Hijri's statements came during his reception of the new leader of the "Men of Dignity Movement", Mazid Khodaj, where he emphasized that what Sweida has recently witnessed has had a significant impact on the Druze community, urging the international community to support efforts to protect the community members and establish an independent administrative entity in the region.
Al-Hijri also referred to the formation of the Druze National Guard in Sweida, explaining that this formation aims to organize local security operations under the supervision of specialists and officers, and that some countries have provided support for this initiative.
Al-Hijri renewed his gratitude to the Israeli authorities for the support provided to the community, according to a video recording broadcast by the "Al-Rasid" network.
Recently, local factions announced their full allegiance to Al-Hijri and formed a legal committee to manage the affairs of the governorate, including political and economic issues and judicial oversight.
These movements come at a time when the Sweida governorate is witnessing local demonstrations, where Israeli occupation flags were raised and calls were made to open crossings to the occupied territories, in the context of local demands related to the administration of the region.
