Belarusian President Calls on Local Oil Producers to Increase Exploration Efforts After Poland Discovers Large Oil Field

The following day, Lukashenko held a meeting to discuss hydrocarbon production, urging local oil producers to increase exploration efforts and develop new fields.
The Belarusian President emphasized that he is "completely confident in the reserves here and in all the directions we are working in. Therefore, we must continue drilling and exploration, but wisely and using modern techniques," adding: "Any drilling or geological exploration must be justified."
He pointed out that private oil production is a key element for energy security in the country, as well as being important raw materials for high-value export products.
Lukashenko explained that Belarus has discovered five large and medium-sized oil fields so far, in addition to 91 very small fields. He clarified that international practice dictates starting oil production from large fields to ensure maximum efficiency in exploration operations, then moving on to smaller fields.
Earlier, Lukashenko had reprimanded oil sector workers for their lack of seriousness in research and exploration, emphasizing the need to double efforts to achieve national goals.
