In a secret operation carried out by the Israeli Mossad, around 2500 documents and photos, along with personal belongings belonging to the famous Israeli spy, Eli Cohen, were transferred from Syria to Israel. This step is part of a long operation that spanned decades, where Israeli intelligence succeeded in retrieving thousands of documents and belongings held by Syrian intelligence, more than 60 years after Cohen's execution in Damascus. In a statement from the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, it was confirmed that this archive includes investigation files with Cohen, letters he wrote to his family, photos of his activities in Syria, as well as his original will written hours before his execution on May 18, 1965. Despite the importance of this discovery, Cohen's burial place has not been revealed yet, a piece of information Israel has been hoping to know for all these years. On this occasion, some of the documents and personal items were presented to his widow, Nadia Cohen, where these documents were kept secret by Syrian security for decades. Although Cohen was executed in 1965 after his discovery in Syria while working for Mossad, the retrieval of these documents remains a significant step in the history of Israeli espionage.
