A strong earthquake of 6.2 magnitude shakes the Turkish city of Istanbul.

A strong earthquake hit the Turkish city of Istanbul this morning, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, causing buildings to shake significantly and citizens to flee to the streets out of fear of collapses or aftershocks.
According to data from the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), the earthquake measured 6.02 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority recorded a 6.2 magnitude earthquake at a depth of 23 kilometers off the coast of the Silivri region, following an initial tremor of 3.9 magnitude according to the authority, while the Kandilli Observatory estimated it at 4 magnitude.

Video footage showed panic among residents during building evacuations, while emergency teams spread in the affected areas to assess the damages.
No official reports of casualties have been recorded so far, but authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
