The Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the dispatch of a humanitarian aid shipment weighing 1200 tons to the Gaza Strip, including essential food items and meals for children, via the port of Ashdod in Israel.
The statement clarified that Cyprus contributed 700 tons of aid, while Malta donated an additional 500 tons, highlighting the pivotal role of the UAE in supporting the logistical operation.
The ministry added that the Cypriot infrastructure for collecting and inspecting the aid is ready to serve as a humanitarian corridor to support the residents of the sector, emphasizing that the delivery is conducted under the supervision of the United Nations.
According to Reuters, the shipment will be transported to Gaza without additional security checks upon arrival, with the World Central Kitchen organization responsible for distributing the aid to those in need.
In a tragic context, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced the registration of three new deaths in the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition, bringing the total number of starvation victims to 266, including 112 children, while the total number of casualties from the Israeli war on the sector since October 2023 has exceeded sixty thousand dead and more than 156 thousand injured.
