Religious and social events were held in the city of Al-Suwayda on the evening of Sunday, May 25th, with an extensive meeting at the Al-Abu Asali compound. The meeting was attended by the Druze community's spiritual leader, Sheikh Abu Osama Yusuf Jarboua, representatives of the city's families, local faction leaders, as well as several religious and civil figures to discuss the current security challenges in the province.

According to "Al-Suwayda 24" website, the meeting aimed to formulate a unified stance regarding the deteriorating security situation, especially the proliferation of random weapons and its negative impact on public life stability.

The discussion resulted in drafting an initial resolution supporting the enhancement of the role of local factions in temporarily maintaining security until the activation of the judicial police and internal security forces from the province's residents. These agencies will later assume full security responsibility in accordance with legal frameworks and societal agreements.

The draft also included clauses rejecting any divisive projects or external interventions threatening Al-Suwayda's stability, emphasizing the importance of dialogue among all religious, social, and political entities, rejecting marginalization and exclusion rhetoric, and striving for comprehensive consensus ensuring everyone's participation.

The meeting featured interventions reflecting widespread discontent with recent acts of violence in areas like Al-Ashrafiya, Jaramana, and Al-Suwayda, in addition to the escalating incitement rhetoric on social media platforms.

Participants criticized what they described as "demonization campaigns" targeting the province, whether through extremist rhetoric and local figures' targeting or through incitement calls aiming to sow internal divisions, calling for criminalizing such practices and holding those responsible accountable.

One of the speakers during the meeting emphasized the necessity of adhering to the concept of the state and the rule of law, pointing out the declining trust between society and official authorities, which, in his view, requires urgent measures to address this gap, including holding violators accountable and halting sectarian rhetoric.

The participants concluded their proceedings by affirming the continuation of consultative meetings in preparation for broader meetings at the provincial level to finalize a resolution reflecting genuine consensus on security regulation priorities, enhancing community unity, and confronting any attempts threatening stability or promoting divisive projects.
