4 Killed and 30 Injured in Fire at Ramses Telecommunications Center in Cairo

Four people were killed and around 30 others were injured in a fire that broke out yesterday, Monday, July 7, inside the Ramses Telecommunications Center building in the heart of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, according to local media reports.
State television reported that the fire, which erupted in the building belonging to the Egyptian Telecommunications Company, has been brought under control, but it caused disruptions to telecommunications and internet services in parts of the capital.
Egyptian Minister of Communications, Amr Talaat, confirmed that services will gradually be restored within 24 hours, noting that "Ramses Central will remain out of service for days due to the fire".
The Minister added that he "cut short an overseas visit to return to Cairo to follow up on the developments of the incident, assess the extent of the damage caused, review the measures taken to ensure the continuity of telecommunications services, and mitigate the repercussions of the fire".
In a related context, the Egyptian Stock Exchange announced the suspension of trading today, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, due to difficulties in communication between the system parties.
The Exchange statement read: "In light of recent developments, and despite the continuous efforts and great endeavors of all parties to prepare a suitable environment for trading, and for brokerage firms to communicate efficiently with all trading system parties, and in the interest of the Egyptian Exchange in the interests of all parties, and in ensuring equal opportunities among traders, it has been decided to suspend trading at the Exchange today".
The relevant authorities are working to assess the damages and take necessary actions to fully restore services as soon as possible.
