In a incident that sparked anger and controversy in Iran, Iranian President Masoud Bazkian decided to dismiss his assistant for parliamentary affairs, Shahram Dabiri, after confirming reports of his expensive trip to the South Pole during the Norouz holiday.

The Iranian President directly addressed Dabiri, saying: "In these days, after verifying the news, it has become clear that you were on a recreational trip to the South Pole... Amid the huge economic pressures under which citizens are suffering, and in the midst of many needy people, such actions, even if at your personal expense, are unjustified and cannot be defended."

The decision came to create a striking contradiction, especially since Dabiri's office had issued a statement days ago denying the news, describing the rumors as "rumors" and "fabricated news," confirming that the circulated photos were "old and have no relation to the current time."

However, the truth quickly emerged when Dabiri's wife posted photos of them on Instagram, showing them in front of a tourist ship called "Plancius," known for organizing trips to the South Pole from southern Argentina, before deleting the photos later.

It didn't stop at this point, as photos of them also appeared in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, turning suspicions into a confirmed reality, forcing Bazkian to make the decision to dismiss him.

The two-week trip, which caused a great stir, came at a sensitive time when Iran is going through one of its toughest economic periods, with rising prices and a decline in the purchasing power of citizens.

The anger peaked with a sudden jump in foreign currency prices, as the US dollar exceeded 100,000 tomans in the first working days of the new Iranian year, increasing by five thousand tomans within a few days.

Amid this tense scene, local media began to level other accusations against Dabiri, related to employing relatives and close associates in government positions, deepening the level of criticism. However, there have been no indications from the government so far regarding opening an investigation into these charges or even commenting on them.

Dabiri's scandal, which started with images from a "remote" trip, quickly turned into a public political test of the seriousness of the new government in combating corruption and promoting social justice, while Iranians are still waiting to see if this dismissal is just a symbolic step... or the beginning of a more rigorous and accountable phase.
