Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza called for the lifting of Western sanctions on Syria.

This came during his interview with the Turkish Anadolu Agency on the sidelines of his participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, currently taking place in its fourth edition in southern Turkey, where he said: "Sanctions on Syria must be completely lifted."

The Venezuelan minister clarified that "his country always stands against unilateral coercive measures, and no country should be subjected to such actions."

Arreaza pointed out that his country wants the Syrian people to live in peace, decide their destiny while preserving the unity of their territories and sovereignty, emphasizing the importance of establishing peace in Syria for peace in the region.
