"A3+" group in the United Nations Security Council has reiterated its firm commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Syria, considering these principles non-negotiable and must be respected by all parties, while emphasizing the importance of effective regional measures to de-escalate the situation in the region.

In a statement delivered by Ammar Bin Jamil, the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, during a meeting of the Security Council to discuss the situation in Syria, the group consisting of Algeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Guyana expressed its full support for Syria, pointing out that the continuous threats by "ISIS" remain a major concern.

The group also welcomed Syria's first military operation against the organization in Aleppo province, considering it a significant step in combating terrorism, and praised the formation of special committees for "transitional justice" and "missing persons," viewing them as serious moves towards accountability and national reconciliation.

Furthermore, the group noted the positive progress in the relationship between the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the Syrian government, referring to the Director-General's visit to Damascus and the successful visits that included unprecedented cooperation and the collection of new samples and documents that were not previously disclosed.

The group also commended Syria's readiness for transparent cooperation, providing offices for the organization in Damascus, and offering full logistical support and necessary technical expertise.

Economically, the group welcomed international developments, including the lifting of sanctions on Syria by major international donors, Syria regaining eligibility for loans from global financial institutions after settling its debts in cooperation with regional partners.

On the security front, the "A3+" group expressed grave concern over the escalation of Israeli aggression, especially the airstrikes targeting the vicinity of the presidential palace in Damascus on the second of May last year, in addition to the attacks on Latakia and Tartus.

They strongly condemned these attacks, calling for an "immediate and complete cessation of all violations against Syrian sovereignty."
