The U.S. Embassy in Syria stated, "Syrian immigrants have contributed to enriching the cultural fabric of the United States, strengthening it and contributing to its prosperity." They added, "In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many settled in 'Little Syria,' a vibrant neighborhood in New York City, home to important institutions like the Syrian Catholic Church of St. George." Currently, between 90,000 and 155,000 Syrian immigrants live in the United States, with most residing in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago, which are home to the largest number of Syrian-born immigrants.
