Syria launches an initiative to include its national flag in the global emoji symbols.

Abdul Salam Hikl, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology in the Syrian Interim Government, announced the official implementation of a plan to include the new Syrian national flag emoji on various global digital platforms.
This step is part of the government's efforts to enhance the Syrian national identity in the digital space.
Minister Hikl shared details of the initiative on his official account on the "X" platform, mentioning that his ministry is currently engaging with major tech companies, including Google, Microsoft, and Samsung, as well as communication apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and X, to add the Syrian flag to their approved emoji libraries.
Hikl added that the Unicode Consortium, responsible for globally unifying digital symbols, stated that the decision to add or modify flags is subject to the policy of each individual tech platform and not directly under the consortium's jurisdiction.
This move is part of a broader strategy aimed at solidifying Syrian national symbols on digital platforms, within the transitional phase following the major political changes that followed the fall of the Assad regime.
