President Michel Aoun of Lebanon received a delegation from the Union of Vegetable and Fruit Importers and Exporters in Lebanon, discussing export prospects and cooperation with neighboring countries, especially Syria. During the meeting, Aoun emphasized that "matters are taking a positive direction with Syria," announcing that "Lebanon will take steps to develop relations and discuss common issues, including border demarcation, transit, and others," expressing hope "that Lebanon will benefit from the opportunity it has with the Arab world for the country's interest." Aoun also stressed that "the Arab world is an economic lung and lifeline for Lebanon, led by Saudi Arabia," pointing out that "Lebanon must take necessary measures to facilitate this and restore confidence with Arab countries," according to a statement issued by the Lebanese presidency. Saudi Arabia made advanced diplomatic efforts by holding a trilateral meeting in Riyadh on March 27, bringing together its defense ministers with their counterparts from Syria and Lebanon. The meeting discussed ways to enhance common security, focusing on border demarcation between the two countries. The agreement reached at the meeting included the formation of legal and specialized committees, activating security and military coordination mechanisms to deal with challenges, especially those that may arise on the shared borders. The attendees agreed to hold a follow-up meeting in the Kingdom in the near future. This Saudi step came after statements by President Michel Aoun, confirming that Lebanon is working on establishing direct channels with Syria through joint committees to demarcate borders and secure the return of Syrian refugees.
