Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump are scheduled to hold a meeting tomorrow, Monday, April 7, in Washington, as reported by an Israeli official who preferred to remain anonymous to Bloomberg. The two sides will discuss developments in Syria, including the Turkish role there, as well as other issues such as new customs agreements, the war in Gaza, and the Iranian nuclear program. Trump insisted on holding the meeting this week, despite Netanyahu's team's desire to postpone it until after the Jewish Passover. These talks come amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Turkey, which supports the Syrian government, while the Israeli army continues its ground and air military operations in Syria. Trump described Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a "friend." Regarding Iran, Trump aims to start direct negotiations to halt the Iranian nuclear program, warning of its destruction if dialogues fail. Despite Israel's reservations about these negotiations, it avoids publicly opposing Trump's stance, while continuing its military preparations in anticipation of a possible attack on Tehran. Last Friday, the Turkish Foreign Minister confirmed that his country is not seeking a confrontation with Israel on Syrian territory.
