"Israel" cancels plan to bring "Druze" workers from southern Syria to the occupied Golan Heights.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the Israeli government has decided to cancel a plan that would have allowed Druze workers from southern Syrian villages to enter the occupied territories. The Israeli plan involved "bringing workers from the Druze community in Syria to the occupied Golan Heights to work in agriculture and construction on the plateau." The Israeli Ministry of Defense had announced last month its intention to "allow Syrian Druze workers to enter the occupied Golan Heights," without specifying an official date for issuing work permits, leaving the plan in the preparation stage without actual implementation. The Israeli government justified its security policy towards Syria by indicating that "the new Syrian government poses a threat to the Israeli state," as reported by the media. Nevertheless, Israel affirmed its commitment to "protecting minorities in Syria, including the Druze community."
