Actor Jean-Claude Van Damme is facing shocking accusations in Romania related to sexual exploitation of human trafficking victims. According to the British newspaper "Independent," reports indicate that the 64-year-old Belgian actor is accused of having illicit sexual relations with 5 Romanian women who were victims of a criminal gang led by Romanian businessman Mirel Bulea, who manages a suspicious modeling agency. The complaint filed with the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) alleges that the five women were presented as "gifts" to Van Damme during the Cannes Film Festival in France, where they worked as models in Romania. Adrian Coculescu, a lawyer representing one of the victims, confirmed that the women were in difficult social and economic situations, and Van Damme was aware that they were being exploited by the criminal network, supported by witness testimonies. This case is part of a broader Romanian investigation launched in 2020 into Bulea's network accused of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors in sexual assault cases. As the incident occurred in France, legal procedures require approval from the French Court of Cassation to transfer the investigations to Romania, where Van Damme may be called to testify. So far, there has been no official response from Van Damme's representatives or from DIICOT despite the news spreading in global media. Van Damme, born in 1960, is a prominent action movie star from the 1990s, known for films like "Bloodsport" and "Universal Soldier," before transitioning to directing.
