Egg prices continue to decline these days, marking unprecedented drops. Many citizens in Hama have noted that eggs are now more accessible due to their affordability, becoming a staple in family breakfasts and dinners, and a top choice for children after french fries. Some sellers mentioned that table eggs are the best-selling post-holiday item, offering enticing deals to consumers due to high supply. The price for a 1600g plate is around 14,000 Syrian pounds, while two plates cost 27,000. A 1800g plate is priced at 19,000 pounds, and a plate weighing 2kg or more costs 23,000 pounds. This phenomenon is attributed to the resumption of work and production in dozens of poultry farms that were inactive before the fall of the previous regime, due to high production and marketing costs, as well as traders sourcing this essential food item from northern Syria at suitable prices for retailers.
