Director de Asuntos Civiles en Damasco: Combatir la corrupción y mejorar los servicios es una prioridad.

Abdullah Abdullah, director of the Civil Status Department at the Syrian Ministry of Interior, confirmed that the department is working on enhancing the fight against corruption and improving the quality of services provided to citizens by updating electronic systems and simplifying civil document procedures.

Abdullah explained in a statement to "SANA" agency that the roots of corruption in government institutions go back to the policies of the previous regime, which contributed to its spread administratively and financially, pointing out that the current administration is taking strict measures to eradicate these practices fundamentally.

He added that combating administrative corruption includes "pursuing employees involved in documented corruption cases and referring them for criminal investigation, with the application of strict penalties," reaffirming the administration's commitment to providing civil documents "free of charge to citizens." He also encouraged citizens to report any violations to ensure the transparency and fairness of services.

In a related context, Abdullah revealed a project to update the Civil Affairs Information Network, explaining that a technical team is working on rehabilitating it and linking it to a unified platform. He mentioned overcoming technical challenges, as the network has started registering "foreign births," meaning births outside of Syria.
