Trump Announces Executive Order Requiring Voter ID and Establishing Mail-in Voting Conditions

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday his intention to issue an executive order requiring every voter to present an ID when casting their vote, in a post on the "Truth Social" platform.
The announcement came through a series of posts, where Trump wrote: "Voter ID must be part of every voting process. No exceptions! I will issue an executive order to make this happen!!!".
Trump also set strict conditions for mail-in voting, stating: "Mail-in voting will not be allowed, except for those with severe illnesses and military personnel stationed away".
This announcement comes amid Trump's ongoing doubts about the integrity of the U.S. electoral system, as he continues to promote claims that his loss in the 2020 election to Democratic President Joe Biden was due to "widespread fraud", claims that he and his Republican allies repeat without providing conclusive evidence, particularly regarding the voting of large numbers of non-citizens, which is considered illegal and rare according to election officials.
Trump's positions on elections extend to his long-standing calls to end the use of electronic voting machines, replacing them with paper ballots that are manually counted. However, experts and election officials point out that this paper approach takes longer, costs more, and is significantly less accurate compared to automated counting.
