TikTok Launches New Features to Support Songwriters and Enhance Their Presence on the Platform

TikTok has unveiled a set of new features designed specifically to assist songwriters and music composers in showcasing their work and promoting it more effectively. The announcement follows a series of surveys and interviews with hundreds of music composers to understand their needs.
The features include introducing a new category called "Songwriter", along with a dedicated section to showcase their musical works. TikTok explained that these features are currently available in a beta version, with initial access granted to a limited number of publishers, songwriters, and approved partners. Others can sign up for a waiting list to join the program later on.
TikTok conducted a survey involving over 870 songwriters, as well as in-depth interviews with some of them to study ways to support them in creating appealing profiles and generating income from their artistic productions. The platform also cited an independent survey revealing that over half of music composers who rely on social media to promote themselves use TikTok.
In this regard, Jordan Low, Head of Music Publishing Licensing and Global Partnerships at TikTok, stated in a statement quoted by TechCrunch:"TikTok stands out for its ability to provide songwriters a way to highlight their musical works alongside their personal content, helping them narrate stories about their music, craft, and lives, elevate their status, and attract their audience on TikTok, as hundreds of thousands of creative artists already do."
Despite discontinuing the "TikTok Music" service last year, the platform continues to play a pivotal role in discovering new music and supporting artists in reaching wider audiences. The company recently launched the "TikTok for Artists" tool, allowing musicians to track the performance of their songs and promotional campaigns.
