It is worth noting that the institution was established by a decision of the United Nations General Assembly in June 2023, and its mission is to clarify the fate of the missing in Syria and provide the necessary support to their families, amid the ongoing repercussions of the conflict that has left thousands of cases of enforced disappearance.
