In a sudden and decisive development, Moroccan club Nahdat Berkane welcomed the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which confirmed the result of the semi-final match of the African Confederation Cup against the Algerian Union in the last season, closing the door on the Algerian team's attempts to overturn those results.
In a statement by the Berkane club, it was announced that on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the club received the court's decision rejecting the Algerian Union's request to cancel the results of both legs of the match.
The court affirmed that Nahdat Berkane won the match and that no penalties would be imposed on them, much to the delight of their fans.
The CAS also clarified that the matches played by Nahdat Berkane while wearing the jersey featuring the map of Morocco, which was the cause of the dispute between the Algerian and Moroccan federations, are not annulled, indicating that Morocco is in a legitimate legal position.
The court rejected any claims from the Algerian Union to replay the match, meaning that Nahdat Berkane is considered to be in a sound legal position.
Furthermore, the court confirmed that no penalties were imposed on Nahdat Berkane or the Royal Moroccan Football Federation by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), indicating no violations of the laws.
This decisive decision by CAS comes after the controversy surrounding the jersey worn by Nahdat Berkane players, conclusively closing the case and confirming the Moroccan team's continuation in the competition without any alterations to the results, leading the Berkane fans to celebrate another victory off the field.
