Syria continues its presence in international scientific forums, where Syrian Scientific Olympiad students participate in the fifty-fifth edition of the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2025), held this year in the French capital, Paris, from July 17 to 25, with the participation of more than 80 countries from around the world.

Dania Qabani, the director of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad at the Excellence and Creativity Commission, said in a statement to SANA today: Syria is represented in this international scientific competition by the Syrian Scientific Olympiad team specializing in physics, which includes the students:
Haya Hawwat from Homs, Sali Hussein from Tartous, Abdelhadi Shmashan from Damascus, Karim Abu Saeed from Suwayda, and Ali Shemis from Latakia.

Qabani pointed out that the team underwent an intensive scientific training camp supervised by the scientific committee for physics specialization before heading to France, aiming to prepare the students and enhance their readiness for international competition, as part of the preparations organized by the Excellence and Creativity Commission in preparation for participation in international Olympiads.

The international scientific Olympiad competitions are an opportunity for ambitious and interested young people in various fields of science from all countries to meet, and Syrian participation confirms the excellence achieved by national competencies in these fields.
