Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar, affirmed that the investment environment in Syria has become conducive to receiving both local and foreign investments, thanks to the new investment law that is as flexible and updated as the laws in advanced countries.
Minister Al-Shaar explained during a joint press conference with the spokesperson of the visiting Saudi economic delegation at the General Secretariat building of the Presidential Palace on Saturday that the new law provides a stimulating and attractive legal environment that facilitates the entry of capital, indicating that the law is a key tool to support the investment process and enhance the role of the private sector in reconstruction and economic development.
In turn, the spokesperson of the Saudi delegation, Mohammad Al-Salman, explained that the delegation's visit was driven by the desire of major Saudi companies to explore the available investment opportunities in Syria, confirming that these opportunities are "diverse and very attractive", with discussions held on cooperation in sectors such as energy, airport operation, water desalination, and tourism.
Al-Salman mentioned that the size of investments that Saudi companies plan to implement in Syria will be at the level of their investments abroad, pointing out that the visit is based on clear foundations for the start of an operation, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and the Syrian government, through serious steps to activate investments.
Al-Salman said: "Today we have taken our first steps towards investing in Syria, and there are undoubtedly future projects in preparation, with significant progress made in several of them, which will be announced soon".
