Russia closes Polish consulate in Kaliningrad

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced today, Friday, the withdrawal of its consent for the operation of the Polish Consulate General in the city of Kaliningrad in the far west of Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that today, July 11, the Polish Charge d'Affaires in Russia was summoned to the ministry's headquarters, where he was handed a note stating that in response to the Polish authorities withdrawing their consent for the operation of the Russian Consulate General in Krakow as of June 30 last, the Russian side withdraws its consent for the operation of the Polish Consulate General in Kaliningrad as of August 29 next.
The statement emphasized that this step was taken "as a result of the aggressive and unjustified actions of the Polish side, which consisted of reducing the Russian consular presence on Polish territory on flimsy grounds".
