Mass Poisoning in Minya: 104 Injured After Eating Meals from a Famous Restaurant

The city of Minya in southern Egypt witnessed a mass poisoning incident today, Thursday (September 4, 2025), affecting more than a hundred people, including children, after they consumed meals from a well-known restaurant in the Abu Hilal area.
According to reports from the health directorate in the governorate, the number of injured reached 104 individuals, who exhibited symptoms of poisoning such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever, necessitating their urgent transfer to hospitals via ambulances.
The health authorities decided to retain samples of the suspected food, in addition to samples of the victims' vomit, and send them to the central laboratories of the Ministry of Health for analysis to ensure food safety and determine the causes of the poisoning.
The security agencies also arrested the restaurant owner pending the results of the investigations and laboratory tests.
It is noteworthy that the Minya governorate had witnessed a similar incident about two months ago in the city of Malawy, where dozens were poisoned after consuming meals from another restaurant.
