The Iranian army and the Revolutionary Guard issued separate strong-worded warnings against any military action targeting Iran, coinciding with the anniversary of the recapture of the city of Khorramshahr during the 1980s war.

These statements come amidst escalating reports of Israel's possible strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, causing alarm in Tehran.

Threats of "changing the power equations"

The Revolutionary Guard warned in its statement that any aggression will face a "decisive, devastating response beyond the enemy's expectations," stating that its forces are "on the trigger." It described the United States and Israel as "Iran's main enemies," emphasizing that any attack will be met with a response that "alters the strategic power equations" in West Asia.

The Iranian army, in its statement on Saturday, May 24, affirmed its readiness to "defend Iran's territorial integrity, independence, and security to the last drop of blood, in cooperation with the rest of the armed forces."

It added that the anniversary comes at a time when "enemies of the regime are seeking, through various conspiracies, to undermine the foundations of the Islamic Republic."

Abbasi: "Negotiations will not succeed as long as there is Western greed"

Fereydoun Abbasi, former head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, stated to ISNA news agency that "if we want negotiations to end in our favor, we must confront the Americans from a position of strength, and the armed forces must be on the trigger during the negotiation process." He warned that any mistake by the enemy "will receive a deadly response."

Abbasi pointed out that the Western problem is not only with the nuclear program but with the Iranian regime itself, saying: "As long as there is Western greed, negotiations will not succeed."

He also stated that nuclear weapons "do not contribute to security today," but added: "Possessing them _ like India and Pakistan _ can achieve balance, as is the case with Russia and China facing America, Britain, and France."

Mutual diplomatic and intelligence warnings

In a related context, the Iranian Foreign Ministry warned in a letter to the UN Secretary-General that the United States will bear legal responsibility if Israel attacks Iranian nuclear facilities.

This came on the eve of the fifth round of Iranian-American negotiations in Rome, which ended without tangible progress, according to AFP.

On the other hand, US intelligence reports, reported by CNN, revealed that Israel is accelerating its preparations for a possible strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, especially with growing concerns about the failure of the negotiations.

Officials confirmed that the Israeli decision has not been finalized yet, but the possibility of an attack "has significantly increased."

Military preparations and changing assessments

Israeli sources reported that the Israeli army conducted intensive drills for a rapid strike in Iran, while the Israeli intelligence recently revised its assessment, expecting the collapse of the nuclear talks.

The Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a secret meeting with top officials to discuss military options, reaffirming his commitment to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon.
