Tunis Capital Faces Water Crisis Amid Severe Heatwave

The National Company for the Exploitation and Distribution of Water reported: "Due to a sudden breakdown in the central electrical transformer at the raw water pumping station, disruptions and interruptions in the distribution of drinking water will be recorded in the Greater Tunis governorates" starting from 3:00 pm local time.
Residents of the capital were quoted by Agence France-Presse as saying that water was cut off in their homes or the flow was very weak.
The National Institute of Meteorology also announced a sharp rise in temperatures on Monday, ranging between 44 and 46 degrees in the provinces adjacent to the capital.
During summer, frequent interruptions in the drinking water network are often recorded, especially in the inland areas of the country.
In recent years, Tunisia has faced a significant water shortage, especially with the worsening climate change.
