France has expressed its "deep concern" over the continued violations in the province of Sweida, calling for "strict adherence" to the ceasefire, and ensuring the protection of civilians in the area.

In a statement, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Paris "expresses its deep concern over the continued violations in the Sweida region, despite an agreement to end the clashes", calling on all parties to "strictly adhere to the ceasefire, ensure the security of civilians, resume humanitarian aid, and provide essential services in the area".

The statement noted that France "emphasizes its respect for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity", calling on Israel to "refrain from any unilateral actions".

The statement affirmed that France "supports the efforts undertaken by the Syrian transitional authorities with officials in the Sweida region to resume dialogue", expressing hope for reaching a "sustainable agreement that enhances unity, establishes security, asserts sovereignty in Syria, and preserves the safety of all Syrians".

The French Foreign Ministry pointed out that it "notes the commitment of the Syrian transitional authorities to investigate the condemned violations committed against civilians", emphasizing the need to identify those responsible and immediately refer them to the judiciary.

The statement also mentioned that the French Foreign Minister held talks with his Syrian and Israeli counterparts to convey messages urging for de-escalation, as well as discussed with his Jordanian counterpart and the US Special Envoy to Syria, "whose work France appreciates".

The French Foreign Ministry confirmed that Paris "will continue its efforts to support the establishment of stability in Syria", emphasizing its commitment to the obligations and principles outlined in the joint statement issued on February 13, 2025.
