Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has affirmed that the recent Israeli attacks on Syrian territories pose the biggest threat in the region currently, emphasizing that his country closely monitors all ongoing developments in Syria and coordinates directly with the relevant Syrian authorities.
In a televised speech following the Turkish government's weekly meeting, Erdogan explained that Israel has expanded its aggression in the past two days to target Turkey's neighbor, Syria, under the pretext of 'protecting the Druze sect,' adding: 'Anyone who bets on supporting Israel will sooner or later realize that they have made a grave mistake in their calculations.'
The Turkish President pointed out that the stability of Syria is the key to stability in the entire region, warning that the continuation of aggression against Syria will not only harm Syria itself but will also hold everyone accountable for the consequences.
Regarding Turkey's position on the internal situation in Syria, Erdogan stressed that Ankara has never and will never agree to the division of Syrian territories, and that Turkish policy towards Damascus is based on respecting the unity of Syrian territories and preserving its diverse cultural and religious identity.
Erdogan said: 'Syria will overcome this difficult stage thanks to the wise leadership of President Bashar al-Assad,' reaffirming his country's commitment to a foreign policy based on de-escalation and peace, and its continued efforts and diplomatic communications aimed at supporting stability.
