Druze Sheikh Al-Aql and Mufti of Lebanon Call for Preventing Strife and Ending Violence in Al-Suwayda

The Druze Sheikh Al-Aql and the Office of the Mufti of Lebanon affirmed their complete rejection of any provocative rhetoric and considered the shedding of blood among the brothers in the homeland of Al-Suwayda as a shared pain affecting everyone.

The statement issued by the Druze Sheikh Al-Aql emphasized the affirmation of the Druze Sheikh Al-Aql Sami Abi Al-Mona and the Mufti of Lebanon Abdul-Latif Derian on the Islamic and national brotherhood that unites the two noble sects, Sunni and Druze.

The media office statement of the Druze Sheikh Al-Aql stated: "His Eminence the Druze Sheikh Al-Aql Sami Abi Al-Mona received a phone call today from His Eminence the Mufti of Lebanon Sheikh Abdul-Latif Derian, to jointly emphasize in a message the Islamic and national brotherhood that unites the two noble sects, Sunni and Druze, with a long history of shared destiny, and to consider the deep sorrow and sadness over what is happening in the city of Al-Suwayda, with the shedding of pure blood among brothers in the same homeland as a shared pain affecting everyone".

The Sheikh Al-Aql pointed out that he and Mufti Derian confirmed during the call, "their complete rejection of any provocative rhetoric, and covering up any provocative actions that could fuel sectarian tension and present an inaccurate picture of the relationship between the two sects to each other".

Both sides called for "avoiding falling into the trap of strife desired by the enemies of humanity, in a very difficult phase fueled by some media with inaccurate and sometimes misleading information, requiring everyone to prioritize reason, wisdom, patience, and a sense of responsibility, to prevent the danger of strife and stop the bloodshed".

They also emphasized "rejecting any external interference and attacks that contribute to undermining that unity, which has long governed the historical relationship between the two sects".

Both sides appealed to "all concerned parties, starting from the Syrian state, which bears the primary responsibility, and from the Druze Sheikhs in Jabal al-Arab, religious references, and religious and tribal figures, to work seriously and effectively to immediately stop the ongoing violence, not to continue fighting among brothers, and to expel extremists from among them, who work to stoke the crisis, undermine stability, and intentionally or unintentionally contribute to the implementation of suspicious schemes".
