David Mackenzie Returns with the Film "Fuses" at the Toronto Festival: Thrills in London and a Bomb from the Past

In a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025, Scottish director David Mackenzie unveiled his new film "Fuses" (Fuse), which brings together a select group of global cinema stars, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, and Sam Worthington.

The film is set in the heart of the British capital, London, where the discovery of an unexploded bomb from World War II leads to a widespread evacuation, which a gang exploits to carry out a bold bank robbery amid the chaos.

Mackenzie described the film as his first experience in making a film "designed for pure entertainment," while Worthington confirmed that "the thrill begins from the first minute and continues until the end" in a 91-minute film.

This work marks the second collaboration between Mackenzie and Taylor-Johnson after the film "Outlaw King" in 2018, where the latter plays the role of bomb expert "Will Tranter," while James portrays the gang leader "Karalis," and Jojo Mbatha-Raw plays the role of chief supervisor "Zuzana Greenfield," describing her experience as "liberating and full of hands-on learning."

Despite the absence of Taylor-Johnson and James from the premiere, the audience reacted warmly to the film in the "Roy Thomson" hall, with enthusiastic applause and a Q&A session where Mackenzie left the door open for a potential sequel.

The release date for the film in global cinemas has not yet been announced.
