The Chinese President Xi Jinping strongly condemned the "Cold War mentality" and the "intimidation" policy in international relations during the opening of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held in Tianjin today, Monday.
In his opening speech, Xi emphasized the importance of building a global system based on justice and equality, away from the political and economic tensions created by conflicts among major powers.
The Chinese President called for the need to enhance historical awareness regarding World War II, considering that period a significant lesson in the necessity of avoiding major conflicts in the modern era.
He explained that the world needs to move beyond the Cold War mentality, which still hinders the progress of international cooperation, and work on dismantling political bloc alliances that divide nations and lead to new divisions in the international system.
Xi Jinping affirmed that the world must reject the intimidation policy used to pressure small and developing countries, noting that global security and stability are not achieved through threats or military escalation, but through mutual cooperation and respect among nations.
